Wasteland Consumables
Consumables
Many food and drink items found are slightly irradiated and can give the player radiation poisoning. This can be prevented by leveling the Lead Belly perk.
Cost Value
The value listed below is the absolute bare minimum the item can be purchased for. It is recommended that these values be 4-5 times the value listed below. In addition, cost can be increased by things such as lack of supplies, distance to nearest city. Cost can also be lower depending on the same factors as well as character's Barter Skill.
Food
Some food items can be planted in player settlements to increase the settlement's food supply.Food must be consumed periodically to reduce the Hunger effect, if neglected the player's Fatigue will increase and eventually will lead to taking damage to Hit Points. Most types of food will reduce hunger by some amount, though certain foods are more effective than others.
Cooking & Recipes
Throughout the wasteland you will come across many creatures that provide food as well as prewar food. These items can be eaten to recover health and even give you temporary benefits. To cook something you need a suitable source of heat and equipment. When you cook food it removes the radiation from all food except for food with Mutant in the name. To successfully cook and remove radiation from food it requires a successful Survival skill check. On a failure, the food is ruined and not usuable.
Some food require different techniques and materials. These require a specific recipe to complete and cannot be made with out this knowledge. You can learn recipes from others who know it or wasteland cook books and wasteland cooking cards.
Farming
If you wish to farm it must be an allowable item to be plantable. If it is plantable you can mut one of those items into the ground and water it at least once a day to have it grow. It takes 1 day to grow for every hit point it can restore (usually 10 days). At the end of the 10 days you can harvest the item gainiing 1d4+1 of that item. The Farmer background increases this by gaining twice the yield.

Drinks
These consumable items can heal the player, temporarily change the player's SPECIAL stats and add various other unique effects. Some of these drinks can be crafted at Chemistry stations found across the Commonwealth. To create the ice cold variants of certain beverages, they must be placed in Buddy for 12 in-game hours. In the add-on Nuka-World, the player can craft different Nuka-Cola recipes using Nuka-mixer stations. When drinking alcoholic consumables such as beer and wine, there's a chance the player can become addicted, which will result in decreased stats until the addiction is cured. To prevent addiction, the Party Boy/Girl perk must be leveled.
