Vehicles

Overview

Vehicles are devices that are designed or used to transport people or cargo from one point to another. Vehicles span a variety of categories, including cars, trucks, airplanes, and trains.

They are generally run on electric engines drawing power from on-board batteries or nuclear powered with a small reactor to the rear of the vehicle, but vehicles running on petrol also exist. The super mutant army is also said to have used some "steam-powered trucks".[1] There are numerous wrecked vehicles in the Fallout world, but functioning vehicles are now extremely rare.

Statistics

Each vehicle has its own statistics and are described below.

  • Condition: Whenever it is hit it takes a weapon condition. Once it reaches half of its weapon conditions if it has a battery or Fusion Core it catches on fire.
  • Speed: This is how fast the vehicle travels.
  • Repair: This is how much it costs to repair the vehicle back to its normal state.
  • Fuel: This is what is required to run the car.
  • Capacity: How many can fit comfortably

Fuel

These are what powers the vehicles, whether it is down by Battery or a Fusion Core. All vehicles that require fuel need one of these depending on the vehicle. Follow the table below when determining your fuel. A battery can be made at a workstation, requiring: Steel x3, Circuitry x2, Copper x2, Screws x4, Nuclear Material x2.

Name                 Fuel Length                   Recharge Cost
Battery               24 Hours (Recharges)  Nuclear Material x2
Fusion Core      72 Hours
Gasoline            *Special*
Water                 *Special*

Land Vehicle

These are vehicles that can only travel across land. These also can suffer from difficult terrain and are not all terrain unless otherwise specified. Some require fusion cells or a battery of some kind.

Bicycle

This two wheeled vehicle is made of steel and the tires are made of rubber. The bicycle has the following statistics

Condition Level: 2
Speed: Double your walking speed.
Repair Cost: Steel x2, Rubber x4
Capacity: 1

Fusion Car

These are refurbished into a working condition using previous cars from the Pre-War Era. This usually consist of a four wheel, four door with a trunk.

Condition: 10
Speed: Can travel up to 80mph
Repair: Steel x30, Rubber x16, Circuitry x4, Cloth or Leather x4, Screws x4, Glass x6, Oil x2, Plastic x3, Gears x2
Fuel: Fusion Core
Capacity: 5

Fusion Truck

These are refurbished into a working condition using previous trucks from the Pre-War Era. This usually consist of a four wheel, two door with a open bed in the back measuring 3ft wide and 7ft long of space.

Condition: 10
Speed: Can travel up to 60mph
Repair: Steel x30, Rubber x16, Circuitry x4, Cloth or Leather x4, Screws x4, Glass x6, Oil x2, Plastic x3, Gears x2
Fuel: Fusion Core
Special: Can travel over difficult terrain
Capacity: 2 infront, 6 in bed

Motorcycle

These are refurbished into a working condition using previous motorcycles from the Pre-War Era. This usually consist of a two wheel and two seats.

Condition: 6
Speed: Can travel up to 45mph
Repair: Steel x15, Rubber x8, Circuitry x2, Cloth or Leather x2, Screws x2, Oil x1, Plastic x2, Gears x1
Fuel: Battery
Capacity: 2

Steam Truck

Developed by the Super Mutant Army, these trucks are bulkier to contain multiple Super Mutants. The "steam-powered" refer to that the trucks use a steam engine powered by a uranium fission boiling-water reactor, similar to a smaller version of the engine used by nuclear submarines.

Condition: 10
Speed: Can travel up to 60mph
Repair: Steel x30, Rubber x16, Circuitry x4, Cloth or Leather x4, Screws x4, Glass x6, Oil x2, Plastic x3, Gears x2, Nuclear Material x4.
Fuel: Water, 6 miles per gallon
Special: Can travel over difficult terrain
Capacity: 3 in front, 8 in bed

Water Vehicles

These vehicles travel through the waters of the wasteland and in doing so provide protection from the harsh radioactive waters as well as give a safer travel across the water.

Boat

Boats are typically found on inland waterways such as rivers and lakes, or in protected coastal areas. However, some boats, were intended for use in an offshore environment.

Condition: 10
Speed: Can travel up to 25mph
Repair: Wood x15, Steal x8, Circuitry x2, Cloth or Leather x2, Screws x2, Oil x1, Plastic x2, Gears x1
